Keppe Rofer Solicitors :: Wills, Trusts and Probate

Wills, Trusts and Probate

Every adult can and should make a will. The importance of making a Will cannot be emphasised. Each Will is tailor made for the client, taking into consideration his or her personal financial and family circumstances and commitments, as well as the possible impact of taxation, in particular inheritance tax.

We are also able to act as Executor, or assist a relative

After a death it is important to those who are left behind that the Estate is administered with sympathy and efficiency. This involves obtaining valuations of all the assets of the Estate and agreeing the tax liability, applying for the Grant of Probate (or Letters of Administration if there is no Will) and with the benefit of that Grant, gathering in the assets of the Estate and administering them according to the Will, or according to law. In many cases a Trust may arise and that Trust could last for many years. This will normally require the advice and assistance of a solicitor and in many cases a skilled financial adviser.

Changes to a will

If you already have a will and there have been changes to your circumstances you may want to consider revising your will - for example:

  • a change in your family - birth or bereavement
  • if you get married, entered into a civil partnership, divorced or separated
  • changes in your financial circumstances, or in taxation
  • going to live abroad
